Greetings from Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (RMAF) 2019...

It has been awhile since I've been at an audio show! Until now I've never really bothered to leave the comforts of home to attend any of these events unless they showed up locally... And a few years ago, VAS 2015 and then VAS 2016 happened which allowed me to get a taste of what these shows had to offer.

Alas, those would have been rather small compared to the "big boy" events that we hear about among audiophile circles like AXPONA, RMAF, and of course Munich.

Serendipitously, with the show in early September this year, the timing worked out well for me to take a trip to beautiful Denver. Also, given that this is a new venue - the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Centre newly opened in December 2018 - I think it's a great time to check out the facilities!

I gotta say, I am impressed with the venue thus far. It's Industry Day today (Thursday) and I'm not exactly part of the Industry so I'll await until tomorrow to report on the sound quality of the showrooms :-). A few pictures of the place...

Hallway leading to convention rooms.

I'm guessing the coffee place and registration could be rather busy tomorrow...

I'll see about posting some impressions, interesting findings, maybe comments about seminars I attend over the next few days, time permitting.

Let's see what RMAF 2019 has to offer, and what's new with the luminaries of the audiophile world...

  1. Hi Archimago. Love your blog! Such a breath of fresh air to see audio discussed rationally.

If you happen to make it to the Joseph Audio room, I'd like to hear your impressions or see photos! Thanks!

  2. Wow, I need some catching up to do here.
I didn't anticipate you going to RMAF.
FWR, Victor Jason Serinus felt imitated by the setting.
He's very sensitive you know ;)

I remember when RMAF was all small guys & DIY.
Seems that the hand-wringing we read about concerning the health of the industry
is misplaced to say the least.

    1. Hey Milt,
Was fun checking the joint out :-).

I saw Serinus a few times there... Don't know why there'd be any concerns. A bit pricey but otherwise as you can see in the other show reports, I thought the sound was good. Other than price, maybe some of the older folks may have found the size of the venue difficult to navigate; a good workout with lots of steps.

Other than a few tables at the marketplace with parts and DIY kits, this is certainly well beyond DIY :-).
