I am waiting for my local hifi dealer to have all 3 Dragonfly's in store, to be able to compare them, and due to the asking price for the Cobolt I would probably never end up with it anyways, but that the measuring and subjective listening actually favours the Red is a surprise to me. I got slightly higher noise levels because I was using an RME Babyface Pro ADC. But I also measure with my Surface Pro running on battery, running on power, and finally with Ethernet plugged in. That last state killed the SNR.

From my review:

With 24 bit,Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00711236354664719502noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781727111866727703.post-47949546044608099552020-12-30T05:38:42.696-08:002020-12-30T05:38:42.696-08:00The clipping is a hardware problem with the output...The clipping is a hardware problem with the output driver. It could be worked around in firmware by limiting the digital volume setting to -3 dB (or whatever it takes), at the expense of a little dynamic range.Mans Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16079233294599701785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781727111866727703.post-81554622874456765532020-12-30T05:38:11.686-08:002020-12-30T05:38:11.686-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Mans Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16079233294599701785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781727111866727703.post-72367909077350991052020-12-29T23:24:01.270-08:002020-12-29T23:24:01.270-08:00Theoretically if they updated the firmware that...Theoretically if they updated the firmware that's possible.

Imagine dumping useless MQA, made sure the output level never clips, and just go with a high quality linear phase, sharp filter. ;-)
Archimagohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08642574001287787545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781727111866727703.post-8851463488670411552020-12-29T11:25:12.823-08:002020-12-29T11:25:12.823-08:00Hi, Could the cobalt perform better after an updat...Hi, Could the cobalt perform better after an update? gr peterAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18113189089386001227noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4781727111866727703.post-43556286288237358182020-12-01T02:20:48.437-08:002020-12-01T02:20:48.437-08:00Just picked up a Cobalt now so will drop some subj...Just picked up a Cobalt now so will drop some subjective opinions.
